Children Ski Events

Family ski events are for kids and their parents. The Canadian Birkebeiner Society is excited to partner with Silver Skate Festival in Hawrelak Park to host the Barnebirkie classic-style cross country ski events. These winter fun activities are where Birkie dreams begin!

Parent and Spectator Etiquette: Adults accompanying Barnebirkie skiers on course must be on skis to retain the integrity of the course.
No pets please.
Clothing Footwear: Dress for the weather
Parking:  Free on-site parking available.

Age Limits

The Canadian Birkebeiner Society follows Cross Country Canada’s suggested age limits and have set the age limits below as part of our effort to ensure everyone stays safe.

  • 500 m, 1.5 km, 3 km: Any age; but, children 2 – 7 years of age must be registered with and accompanied by an adult guardian
