The Canadian Birkebeiner Festival is always looking for new people to help out at the Birkie. It takes 650 volunteers to make the Birkie festival happen in February. Many enthusiastic skiers look forward to this great event every winter! There is much preparation behind the scenes ahead of time to make this festival successful.
There are many "day of" volunteer positions available, both indoors and outdoors on both Friday, February 13th and Saturday, February 14th.
To volunteer for a short term position, please fill out this application form and send it to the Birkie office.
If you are feeling a bit more ambitious and want to spend extra time helping the Birkie out, some long-term positions are in dire need of filling. |
Do you have a passion for organizing festival events and have an eye for decorating?
The Canadian Birkie is seeking an Assistant Festival Director to help set up the Nordic Fair, Opening Ceremonies, and Awards. With the right volunteer willing to take on the position of Festival Director for the 2010 Birkie, we may be able to bring back the traditional Nordic Fair, and Awards Banquet.
Previous events management experience would be an asset.
Assistant Competition Secretary
Have time to volunteer before the Birkie?
Do you have ski race officiating experience? Are you organized, database literate, with fast and accurate data processing skills?
The Canadian Birkie now has online registration and chip timing. We are recruiting for an Assistant Competition Secretary to help process manual registrations, learn the ropes from the current retiring Chief, and take on the position for the 2010 Birkie.
With this position, you can volunteer and ski the Birkie, as this Chief’s work is mostly done before the start gun fires!
If you are interested in any of the positions listed above, please contact
the Canadian Birkebeiner Society at 430-7153 or contact us via e-mail. |
