Flying in?
Car rentals, taxi cabs, and airport bus service are available at Edmonton International Airport. Sky Shuttle service can be booked ahead of time by calling 413-4090. WestJet is offering a 10% discount to Birkie participants.  You must make flight arrangements through the WestJet Specialty Sales Team and quote QC #4892.  The Birkie office has fax-forms or e-mail forms; or phone toll free WestJet at 1 888 493-7853 to book flights to the Birkie between Feb. 5th and 15th.

The Birkebeiner Festival activities are centred at Festival Place in Sherwood Park.  Festival Place hosts  the Nordic Fair where you pick up your bibs between noon and 8 pm Friday.  Festival Place is also the venue for the Vikings’ Feast banquet on Saturday evening.


Getting Around

A rental car is recommended, however there will be a Birkie shuttle bus set up to pick up skiers from the Ramada Hotel at 6:30 for the long start and later for the short starts. You must buy a ticket in advance at the Nordic Fair.

Driving to the Event
Both the Start and Finish are easily accessible and are within 45 minutes east of Edmonton. The best directions on to both venues can be found by downloading the Venue Map.

Birkie Shuttles included in Entry Fee:  From Uncas car parking lot to Short starts / Finish Stadium and return (spectators also welcome). Or from Finish Stadium back to the Long-events Start (Ukrainian Village) car parking.

Birkie Bus for those without car rental:  $5.00 for a Saturday round trip shuttle bus pass, payable at the Nordic Fair Information booth on Friday. Please reserve space on each Birkie Bus ride you will require. Note that buses will NOT STOP at other Sherwood Park hotels unless the service is reserved in advance.

Ramada Sherwood Park
Bus to the 55 km/31 km Start Line: departs at 6:45 a..m.
Bus to the Short Starts 13 km, 5 km, 2.5 km: departs 9:15 a.m.

Finish to Hotels
Shuttles pick up from the finish line at 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to the Ramada Sherwood Park.
Sign up in advance at the Nordic Fair.

Friday:
If you want to ski a portion of the course on Friday, a car rental is recommended to get to Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area.
