Car rentals, taxi cabs, and airport bus service are available at Edmonton International Airport. 
  • Sky Shuttle service can be booked ahead of time by calling 780-465-8515.  It stops at several southside hotels along Gateway Blvd.  www.edmontonskyshuttle.com for details.
  • Holiday Inn Convention Centre hosts the Nordic Fair where you pick up your bibs between 12pm noon and 8 pm Friday.  Airport bus shuttle can be arranged for groups.

Getting Around

Driving to the Event

Both the Start and Finish are easily accessible and are within 45 minutes east of Edmonton. The best directions to both start lines can be found by following the links in Event Details -Travel Instructions.

Birkie Shuttles included in Entry Fee: 
  • From Finish Stadium back to the Long-events Start (Ukrainian Village) car parking.
  • From Uncas car parking lot to Short starts / Finish Stadium and return (spectators also welcome).
Birkie Bus for those without cars: 
  • $5.00 each way for a Birkie Bus pass, payable at the Nordic Fair Information booth on Friday. Please reserve space on each Birkie Bus ride you will require. Note that buses will NOT STOP at Sherwood Park hotels unless the service is reserved in advance.
Hotels to Start - the Birkie Bus
If you do not have your own car transportation

  • Board the Birkie Bus from the Holiday Inn Convention Centre (host hotel) to the Long event start line. 
  • Bus to the 55 km/31 km Start Line: departs Holiday Inn Convention Centre at 6:30 am (tentative - see Information booth at Nordic Fair on Friday when you buy your bus tickets for final departure time and route)
  • Hotel pick-ups in Sherwood Park may be available if warranted - Ramada, Franklins, Coast Hotels.
  • Board the Birkie Bus to the Short Starts 13 km, Ole’s Tour (2.5 / 4 km): departs 9:15 a.m.


Birkie Bus Finish Line to Hotel  If you do not have your own car transportation 
Shuttle service will pick up from the finish line to Holiday Inn Convention Centre (host hotel) (and Sherwood Park hotels if warranted) Saturday afternoon. 
  • Bus to hotels from the finish line on the hour from 1 pm to 5 pm.
  • Please reserve space when you purchase your bus ticket at the Information booth on Friday. 

Friday test ski: If you want to ski a portion of the course on Friday, a car rental is recommended to get to Cooking Lake-Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area.
