Become a Birkie Volunteer

We recognize the valuable contribution volunteers make in a variety of ways. Most of all, our volunteers have fun, meet new people and make new friends. Every year some skiers write to say how friendly and wonderful the Birkie volunteers are.

It takes approximately 625 volunteers to run the Birkie each year.  Some volunteers work during Birkie week on set-up crews, while others volunteer several hours to a full day on the weekend of the ski events. There are many different areas requiring a variety of skills and interest including marketing, logistics, sponsorship, medical, transportation, food, hosting, timers, registration, trail crew, setup and take-down crews.

Birkie week includes an evening volunteer orientation / appreciation party. Details here

Most volunteers start at the Waskehegan Staging Area for Saturday's ski events. Most volunteers will park at Uncas Parking Lot, take the shuttle bus to the Volunteer Check-in at the Interpretive Centre and then report to their chief.
